Roosevelt (D) defeats Alf Landon (R). In Boston, Roosevelt receives 199,504 votes and Landon (R) 85,789. Roosevelt receives 63.9% of the Boston vote, down from the 67.1% he received in 1932. Boston is one of the few cities – along with New York and Providence – where Roosevelt receives a smaller vote than four years earlier.
